1912

Born in Dlottowen, Germany (Eastern Prussia). His family was the only jewish family in the tiny provincial village near the Polish-Russian border. They owned an inn and a horse ranch.

1929

Graduates the high school in Berlin. Joins the Zionist youth movement HeHalutz.

1934

Immigrates to Israel with HeHalutz. Settles in Kibbutz Na'an.

1936-1939

Sent by the kibbutz to work on the docks in the Port of Tel Aviv .Many of his paintings are destroyed when a fire breaks out in the longshoremen's hut. Later heads the cultural committee of the kibbutz.

1940

Draws and paints in his free time. Teaches himself art, painting portraits of kibbutz members, landscapes of the kibbutz, etc.

1940's

Joins the pre-State military organization HaHagana. Appointed district commander. Paints in different media in his spare time.

1947

Arrested in the wake of 'Black Saturday' and sent to Rafiah prison. Sketches the life of the prisoners.

1947-1948

Company commander in the Giv'ati Brigade during the War of Independence.

Late 1940's

Designs the sets and costumes for "The Caucasian Chalk Circle ", "The Emperor's New Clothes" and other plays staged by the Na'an Studio under the direction of Gideon Ukko.

1950

Exhibition at the Katz Gallery, Tel Aviv. Exhibits figurative paintings produced over the previous two years.

1951

Spends five months in Paris. Works in the Grand Chaumiere academy and exhibits at La Galerie on Rue de Seine.

1953

Founded the painting seminar of the kibbutz movement and taught there with Josef Zaritsky and Avigdor Steimatzky. Participates in the New Horizons exhibition at the Tel Aviv Museum, presenting two abstract still-life paintings.

1954-1959

Organizes the annual paintings courses of the kibbutz movement and conducts them himself.

1956

Exhibition at the Chemerinsky Gallery in Tel Aviv. Participates in the New Horizons exhibition at the Tel Aviv Museum.

1957

Participates in the New Horizons Exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Haifa.

1959

Participates in the New Horizons exhibition at the Tel Aviv Museum.

1959-1963

Works in Paris.

1960

Participates in a group exhibition of Israeli artists in a gallery on Rue de l'Ancienne-Comedie in Paris.

1961

Exhibition at the Dorekens Gallery in Antwerp. Participates in group exhibitions at the Strasbourg Museum and the Senator Gallery in Stuttgart.

1962

Participates in a group exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art in Brussels and at the Salon d'Art Moderne in Paris, where he is awarded with the first prize.

1963

Group exhibitions in the Jewish Museum in New York, the New Horizons exhibition in the Ein Harod Museum of Art, Wiedmann Gallery in Bremen Germany, Flinker Gallery in Paris, School of Paris exhibition in Charpentier Gallery in Paris, Horn Gallery in Luxembourg.

1964

Returns to Israel and settles in Bat Yam. Exhibition at the Bat Yam Municipal Museum. Participates in the Tazpit (Outlook) exhibition at the Tel Aviv Museum. Director of the Bat Yam Municipal Museum.

1964-1966

Teaches at the Avni Institut for Art in Tel Aviv. Participates in the New Horizons exhibition at the Israel Museum in Jerusalem.

1966-1969

Returns to Paris.

1968

Participates in the exhibition at the Salon des Realites Nouvelles in Paris.

1969

Exhibition in 'Die Bruecke' Gallery in Duesseldorf. Participates  in the exhibition at the International Festival of Painting  in Cagnes-sur-mer in France (awarded with first prize).
Returns to Bat Yam. Teaches in the Avni Institute until his death.

1970

Exhibition at Haramati Gallery in Tel Aviv. Participates in the Autumn Exhibition at the Tel Aviv Museum.

1972

Exhibition at the Gordon Gallery in Tel Aviv.

1974

Retrospective exhibition at the Tel Aviv Museum.

1977
